Dependent Eligibility Audit: What happens if I don't verify my dependents?

Dependent Eligibility Audit: What happens if I don't verify my dependents?

There may be consequences to not verifying your dependents.  The final outcome/consequences are at the discretion of your employer.  Best practice - if your dependents are eligible - provide the required documentation to verify their eligibility by the audit deadline.

What happens if I don’t respond at all, or don’t provide all of the necessary documentation?
If you do not respond in full, including all required documents, by the submission deadline date (which will be stated in the Audit package you receive from Benetech), all unverified dependents will be removed retroactively from our benefit programs (either back to the coverage effective date or the audit "as of" date - whichever may apply for the audit engagement).  When that termination will be effective, and what other actions we might take, will depend on individual circumstances.

What happens to MY coverage if I do not respond in full, including all necessary documentation?
Your own coverage will not be terminated. However, as stated above, coverage for all unverified dependent(s) will be dropped retroactively.  Additionally, if a dependent(s) incurred any claims on/after their retroactive termination date, you will be solely responsible for the full amount of all outstanding charges billed by the provider(s).

What happens if I have covered a dependent that was not eligible for coverage. Will I be subject to disciplinary action?
This audit process is intended to ensure that all dependents listed on your insurance are valid. However, in situations where fraudulent information has knowingly been provided, your employer will determine, solely at their discretion, how best to handle each individual case.
